The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is an advanced practice registered nurse who provides anesthetic services as a member of the surgical team, contributing to the overall care of the patient before, during and after surgery. The role includes technical and mechanical functions and the ability to function in unusual situations by utilizing expert knowledge and professional judgment in assessing the problem and implementing appropriate nursing action relative to that advanced practice role.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care services to patients and families.
Perform duties and maintain interpersonal relationships with co-workers, physicians and other departments in a manner that projects a positive image of the department and hospital.
Qualifications Education Requirement
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Graduate of an accredited advanced practice anesthesia program. MSN preferred.
Professional Experience Requirement
Previous experience as a CRNA preferred, but not required.
Licensure / Registration / Certification
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of NC
Current license to practice as a CRNA
CPR Certification
ACLS and PALS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Good interpersonal and communication skills, good manual dexterity, ability to work as a team member, ability to accept criticism, willingness to learn and cooperate, displays calm and self-confidence in acute stressful situations.
Must be able to work on a computer. Must be able to work with ventilators and associated equipment.
