Director, Management Operations II - Clinical

The Director of Management Operations (DMO) will oversee daily clinical, business, and administrative operations for the department of Family and Community Medicine at UTHealth Houston’s McGovern Medical School. This position is crucial for maintaining high standards of patient care, improving operational efficiency, and fostering collaboration within and between departments. The Director will be responsible for budget oversight, strategic planning, and developing innovative programs to enhance the department's research and clinical services. Working under the leadership of Professor and Chair, Dr. Carlos A. Moreno, the DMO will identify and develop strategies and initiatives to fund the Department’s research and teaching efforts. Candidates should possess a minimum of seven (7) years of demonstrated experience in leading a significant clinical operations program. The preferred candidate will exhibit strategic acumen, collaborative qualities, and a strong commitment to fostering relationships with physicians, clinicians, faculty, students, and staff. Position Accountabilities: Plans, implements, and controls operational, financial, administrative, and philanthropic activities for the department. Designs and evaluates operational and financial models; prepares and implements business and strategic plans. Develops, implements, and monitors budget for multiple funding sources and ensures budget compliance. Assists with evaluating and preparing grant proposals and budgets, monitors compliance with grant restrictions/regulations. Ensures faculty, staff, students, and fellows understand compliance regulations and rules. Identifies and develops entrepreneurial projects to fund research and/or teaching efforts. Manages departmental facilities, procurement activities, equipment purchases, and inventory. Serves as key liaison for department with other UT-H areas and external entities. Acts as a designated responsible party for departmental financial reporting. Prepares and interprets financial analyses to better support the department's mission. Manages contracts for professional services and human resources activities for direct reports. Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls. Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Science, Business, Public Health Care Administration, or related field required. Advanced degree preferred. Minimum Experience:

7 years of related experience, preferably in an academic or healthcare administration setting, required.
