LVN -Outpatient- Level II – Palm Desert MOB – Oncology-Regular Clinic – Full Time
Job Summary: Provides nursing care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse or physician/advanced practice provider. Utilizes observational skills to observe nursing intervention and assists medical staff to ensure optimal care within established policies, procedures, and standards. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or provider, provides nursing care in accordance with the legal scope of practice and within established standards of care, policies, and procedures. Demonstrates the Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan of the organization, quality in work habits and clinical practice, and treats coworkers, patients, families, and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.
Responsibilities
Exhibits excellent patient relations with patients, visitors, providers, and co-workers; shows courtesy, compassion, and respect; adheres to department service standards.
Provides therapeutic patient care in accordance with patient plans established by physicians/APs or a registered nurse within the scope of practice.
Transcribes physician/AP orders and acts per policy.
Communicates with a registered nurse to adjust the plan of care; assists with development of a nursing care plan.
Administers specified medications following orders and/or standing orders within scope of practice.
Executes treatments (e.g., catheterizations, IV catheter placement, bladder irrigations, suctioning, throat irrigations, enemas) and adheres to infection prevention and control policies.
Performs patient care tasks including vital signs, wound care, patient education, specimen collection, and assisting with examinations and treatments.
Observes and documents patient condition; initiates emergency procedures as necessary and reports findings per policy.
May initiate IV therapy and/or venipuncture where certified; notifies RN/physician of problems.
Takes and processes specimens per policy; provides non-compounded patient education; identifies and reports learning needs and discharge barriers.
Ensures cleanliness of nursing module/station and patient exam rooms; maintains safe and therapeutic environment.
Participates in back-office workflows, patient outreach, care gap closure, and nurse visits; supports patient communication and message management.
Assists in coordinating discharge and participates in staff meetings and in-service programs.
Assists in ordering, stocking, and distribution of department supplies and equipment.
Performs job functions within license certification and scope of practice; supports compliance with privacy and confidentiality requirements.
Promotes quality customer service and aligns with organizational values and policies.
Qualifications
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license and current practice within the scope of the role.
Ability to observe, document, and communicate patient status; follow policies and procedures.
Certifications for venipuncture and IV therapy may be required where applicable.
Interpersonal skills to provide compassionate care and work collaboratively with the health care team.
