KPMG is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate to join our Trade and Customs practice. The role involves advising clients on trade compliance matters (import/export), leading client projects, and contributing to market development and thought leadership. The position emphasizes developing your career through formal training and mentoring within a collaborative, diverse team. Responsibilities
Meet with and provide advice to clients in a variety of industries on trade compliance matters (import/export) Lead and manage client projects including trade compliance audits, reviews, program development and training Support market development and thought leadership initiatives including articles Research, write, and review advice in export compliance Aid in the management, career development and training of team members Additional Responsibilities for Senior Associate
Provide leadership to associates and review their work Qualifications
Minimum one year of recent direct experience in trade compliance with knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection rules and regulations, the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Code, export compliance (EAR/ITAR), and related areas; experience as an attorney, trade consultant, in-house professional or government official is acceptable Bachelor’s degree, J.D., LL.M. in taxation and/or MBA from an accredited institution Strong experience with U.S. import/export control regulations and the ability to provide practical advice and solutions General export control and sanctions experience, including audits/reviews, voluntary disclosures, classification, and developing a trade compliance framework Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to analyze transactional data using data and analytics; experience in a leading tax/advisory or trade law firm is preferred Ability to travel domestically and internationally Authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future Senior Associate: Additional Qualifications
Minimum three years of direct experience working on engagements involving import/export compliance United States Customs Broker or CUSECO certification preferred
