Washington, D.C. Team Overview As the Rapid Response Manager, you are responsible for ensuring the organization responds swiftly and strategically to breaking news, emerging issues, and high-priority national and world news relevant to ADF issues. This role will serve as the central hub for monitoring real-time developments, aligning organizational messaging, and ensuring the timely dissemination of communications to external audiences. The Rapid Response Manager will partner closely with Communications leadership, legal, media relations, and subject-matter experts to protect and advance the organization’s reputation and mission in the public eye. Key Responsibilities Breaking News Monitoring & Response Continuously monitor media, industry news, and relevant digital channels for emerging issues and breaking news. Quickly assess potential organizational impact and elevate urgent matters to Communications leadership. Provide crisp, daily reports for executive management and key partners across the ministry, including areas for action, areas for increased monitoring, and opportunities. Message Development & Alignment Draft, edit, and distribute rapid response statements, talking points, and key messages for media, stakeholders, and the public. Ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with organizational values, priorities, and legal considerations. Cross-Functional Coordination Act as the central point of coordination across Communications, Legal, Policy, and Executive teams during rapid response moments. Facilitate approvals on messaging under tight deadlines. External Engagement Partner with Media Relations to proactively pitch statements and responses to journalists. Ensure organizational perspectives are represented in external coverage of breaking events. Preparedness & Process Maintain and refine a rapid response playbook and escalation process. Conduct scenario planning and simulations to ensure organizational readiness. Track, measure, and report on the effectiveness and timeliness of responses. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. 5+ years of experience in media relations, public affairs, crisis communications, or a related role. Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to distill complex issues into clear, compelling messaging. Strong news judgment and familiarity with fast-moving media cycles. Experience coordinating across senior leaders, legal, and policy experts. This range is a good faith estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, and office location. Washington, D.C. Salary Range: $79,753—$99,690 USD
