Lead Data Architect at PTR , you will serve as the principal architect and technical visionary for the company’s enterprise‑wide data platform, driving the modernization of a unified, trusted, and highly accessible data ecosystem that empowers decision‑making across the business. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including data engineers and BI analysts and developers, to design and implement scalable, secure data strategies aligned with PTR’s digital transformation and business goals. Reporting to the Director of BI, you will provide hands‑on technical leadership, champion robust data governance, and guide the transition from legacy platforms to a modern data warehouse, mentoring others through significant technological change. Responsibilities
Data Architecture Strategy:
Lead the design and implementation of data architectures that are scalable, efficient, and adaptable to the company’s evolving needs. System Design & Integration:
Architect and integrate complex data systems and solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements and technical specifications. Data Modeling:
Create and maintain logical and physical data models, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and integrity of data. Data Governance:
Implement and enforce data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, privacy, and security standards are met across the organization. Collaboration with Stakeholders:
Work with analytics, engineering, and business teams to gather requirements, define data models, and deliver key data initiatives. Technical Leadership:
Provide leadership to data engineering and analytics teams, mentoring junior members and overseeing data‑related projects. Best Practices & Standards:
Define and promote best practices for data architecture, data management, and data storage within the company. Tool & Technology Selection:
Evaluate and recommend technologies, tools, and platforms for managing large‑scale data pipelines and analytics environments. Performance Tuning & Optimization:
Monitor and improve the performance, scalability, and security of data systems. Stay Updated:
Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in data architecture, big data, cloud computing, and data analytics. Participate in security audits, vulnerability assessments, and system patching. Requirements
MUST HAVE Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience). 10+ years of progressive experience in data architecture, data warehousing, and data engineering, with at least 3+ years in a lead architectural capacity. Hands‑on experience with at least one major cloud provider (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and their data services. Extensive experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Google BigQuery, or Azure Synapse Analytics, and concepts like Delta Lake. Proficiency in ETL/ELT methodologies and tools such as dbt, Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or Google Dataflow. Experience in designing and implementing real‑time data pipelines using technologies like Kafka. Strong proficiency in advanced SQL. Deep understanding of data modeling techniques (e.g., Dimensional Modeling, Star/Snowflake schemas). Familiarity with data catalog, metadata management, and data quality tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Azure Purview, GCP Data Catalog). Strong understanding of BI tool integration (Power BI, Tableau) with modern data platforms. Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex data pipelines and analytical queries for performance and efficiency. Familiarity with CI/CD for data pipelines. Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences (including executive leadership). Proven ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and develop long‑term data strategies. Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and guide technical teams and influence stakeholders through change. A strong team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and can build effective relationships. Pragmatic approach to delivering high‑quality, impactful data solutions. NICE TO HAVE Certification in data architecture or related fields Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines in the data context Experience with data privacy regulations and compliance standards Experience with Python or Spark is highly desirable Location/Hours
