Overview

The Director of Major Gifts - Finance & Real Estate in Manhattan will be responsible for raising funds through a variety of strategies, including face-to-face solicitations, parlor meetings and major events within finance and real estate networks. Key responsibilities include donor identification, cultivation and solicitation, as well as initiatives aimed at raising awareness and support for AFMDA. This role focuses on securing gifts in the five- and six-figure range and requires established development experience and relationships within the finance and real estate communities to enhance current relationships and elevate AFMDA and MDA in these sectors. Essential Job Functions

In coordination with the Director of Strategic Philanthropy, identify, cultivate, build, and solidify relationships with new and established contributors; analyze historic patterns of giving to develop strategies to secure new gifts and increase contributions. Manage a portfolio of 150 to 250 prospects for active qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Meet a set financial goal and perform three to five face-to-face meetings per week. Strategize and determine appropriate partnerships with community organizations, schools or synagogues to develop programs or campaigns for AFMDA; work with the community and lay leadership to cultivate these relationships. Develop lay leadership, plan, organize and execute multiple fundraising events per year (e.g., corporate and professional dinners, parlor meetings and special events) to raise awareness and contributions for AFMDA. Conduct donor research to identify prospects and support cultivation efforts when outside research assistance is not available. Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Philanthropy in setting fundraising priorities and financial goals. Cultivate and maintain community relationships and outreach; identify potential speakers for activities and events. Coordinate activities and budget plans with the Director of Strategic Philanthropy and ensure a cohesive financial resources development plan. Collaborate with the Northeast Region Team to plan and execute the Annual Northeast Gala and ensure a finance and real estate presence at the event. Represent AFMDA at community events and forums. Enter all donor information, actions, and notes into Raisers Edge/NXT. Other related duties as assigned. Education

Bachelor’s Degree required Required Qualifications

Minimum of 6-8 years of direct community fundraising experience in a volunteer environment. Ties to finance, real estate, business and entrepreneurship communities with a focus in Manhattan. Strong knowledge of donor cultivation, donor services and solicitation; proven ability to solicit and close gifts. Proven success in planning fundraising events. Strong interpersonal skills and comfort in interfacing with donors. Excellent writing and verbal communications skills. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office and Internet); comfort with donor database programs; Raisers Edge preferred. Ability to work strategically within a team structure as well as independently; multi-task and meet tight deadlines. Dependability, good time management and organizational skills; attention to detail. Proven experience in managing and implementing development programs. Experience with developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, donors, and staff is a plus. Ability to pivot quickly to address rapidly changing situations both internally and externally. Knowledge of Israel is a plus. Seniority level
