Overview
Summary: The Program Director, under the direction of the Executive Director, is responsible for overseeing the support group program, providing crisis management trainings in the community, providing volunteer trainings, organizing summer camp, and special family activities. Responsibilities
Maintains knowledge of the field of children’s bereavement, ensuring that the program conforms with best practices in the field. Oversees the support group and summer camp programs. Coordinates special event activities for families. Ensures that accurate records are kept on families and facilitators, overseeing the client database for program evaluation and grant reporting. Shares the responsibilities with the program supervisor for managing and implementing the intake, registration, placement for families, transitions in placement, and peer support groups. Supervises the program supervisor and group coordinator who are responsible for organizing and coordinating the group sessions and volunteer placements. Assists the program supervisor in developing activities and providing appropriate materials to accomplish the program goals for each age group. Responds to school and other community crisis situations upon request, offering services proactively when a crisis occurs. Conducts trainings for schools, community organizations, businesses, etc. on supporting children, families, and individuals who have experienced grief. Plans and develops curriculum training modules for FRIENDS WAY volunteer facilitator training and conducts trainings as needed to maintain an appropriate volunteer pool. Responds to requests for advice, training, and informational calls. Maintains accurate documentation of financial records related to program and grant allocations. Ensures a safe environment, conducive to the goals of the program. Conducts annual evaluation of program goals and client satisfaction, analyzing participant demographics and outcome data. Assists in developing grant proposals that will further the program’s mission. Participates in the Board’s strategic planning process and works with the Executive Director to develop new program directions and initiatives including satellite programs. Creates content for posting on social media and conducts media interviews. Plans annual professional development conference held in November. Collaborates with the Executive Director in development and fundraising activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Education
Master’s Degree in a human services field (Counseling, Social Work, Nursing, etc.); independent licensure required. Experience
5 years of professional experience in working with children and their families who have experienced grief and loss are required. Skills
Leadership Skills – Ability to engage and motivate staff in working towards mission of the agency; ability to translate the vision and goals in action; ability to establish a presence in the community. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. Pay
