We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead our core SaaS Platform team. This pivotal role involves owning the strategy, development, and operation of the foundational technologies that empower all our product teams. You will guide a talented team responsible for our frontend and backend libraries, shared services, database strategies, and cloud infrastructure. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring our platform is scalable, reliable, and observable, while also fostering a collaborative environment where other engineering teams can effectively contribute to and leverage the platform. Responsibilities
Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on platform services. Drive observability end-to-end (logs, metrics, traces, alerting) and capacity planning Define and execute the technical roadmap for the platform, covering shared services, libraries, database strategies (MongoDB & PostgreSQL), and our Kubernetes infrastructure. Drive best practices in software development, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability to ensure the platform is robust, scalable, and secure. Collaborate closely with product engineering teams to understand their needs, remove obstacles, and enable them to build and ship features quickly and reliably on the platform. Help foster a "you build it, you run it" mindset, empowering teams with the tools and processes needed to operate their services effectively on the platform Oversee the platform's operational health, incident response, and performance, ensuring we meet our SLOs and deliver a world-class experience to our customers Skills & Experience
8+ years in software/platform engineering, 3+ years managing engineers Proven ownership of a production platform supporting multiple teams/services. Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, specifically Kubernetes Deep technical expertise in building and scaling SaaS platforms and distributed systems in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Practical expertise in Go and TypeScript/Node.js for platform services and tooling Observability in practice: metrics, tracing, and logging (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/Loki), actionable alerting, and runbooks. CI/CD at scale (e.g., GitHub Actions and Flux), feature flags, canary/blue‑green. Infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform) and cloud networking/fundamentals (AWS/GCP/Azure). Solid grasp of reliability engineering: capacity planning, load testing, chaos/DR testing, SLOs Excellent cross-functional leadership and communication; ability to set standards and earn adoption. A strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term technical vision with short-term business needs. Track record improving developer experience: templates, CLIs, documentation, developer portals (e.g., Backstage), paved roads Nice to have Experience with API gateways/service mesh (e.g. Envoy, Istio). Eventing/streaming (e.g., Kafka, NATS) and cache layers (e.g., Redis). FinOps/cost optimization for compute, storage, and data egress Seniority level
