ZipRecruiter, Austin, Texas, us, 78716
Overview
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. Our Machine Learning Acceleration (MLA) team develops the Inferentia and Trainium SOCs that power today’s AI workloads in data centers worldwide. As a Circuit & Design Analysis engineer, you’ll collaborate with multiple teams to drive improvements in silicon yield and performance. We’re seeking an experienced Circuit Design & Analysis engineer with a background in custom circuit design and analysis, system-level thermal and power analysis, and a proven track record of handling challenges at scale. You’ll work directly with product engineers, signal & power integrity engineers, and physical design experts to define best practices, drive correlation of pre-silicon simulation of thermal & power integrity to post-silicon analysis, and develop custom circuits that advance state-of-the-art ML hardware.
Key responsibilities
Design and implement custom cells / IP. Develop and run characterization flows for custom cells / IP developed. Own integration and post-silicon qualification of IPs like PLL, PCIe, UCIE, HBM, sensors/monitors. Develop scripts to automate running analyses and collect reports. Develop test plans and perform measurements in the lab to correlate with simulation data. Collaborate across teams (physical design, product, hardware, RTL/Architectures) to ensure high-quality results.
A day in the life
Evaluate IPs (e.g., sensors, process monitors) from third parties. Characterize custom IPs such as ganged buffers and specialized logic cells for operations (e.g., MACs). Work with designers and architects to identify pain points and areas where custom solutions can improve performance and PPAS. Perform post-silicon quality checks for key IPs like PLLs, UCIE/PCIe, HBM. Perform post-silicon power measurements of jitter and sensor calibration, and correlate with simulation.
