$65,000.00/yr - $72,000.00/yr Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago (EFGC) seeks a mission-driven Accounting Manager who will bring precision, integrity, and strategic insight to their work in financial operations. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of EFGC’s accounting systems and practices, supporting financial transparency and organizational sustainability. Key Responsibilities: Manage the general ledger and ensure accurate processing and recording of all transactions, including but not limited to payroll and benefits journal entries, recurring and adjusting journal entries, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, expense reimbursements, month-end credit card reconciliations, and accounts receivable. Manage reconciliation of donations between Finance and Development. Provide monthly departmental P & L statements to leaders to ensure budget versus actual accuracy for the month-end close process. Assist the VP of Finance, Operations, and People with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Perform fiscal research, analysis, and tracking to support the annual organizational budgeting process. Provide reports to leadership team as requested. Assist the VP of Finance, Operations, and People in monitoring budget variances, annual financial audit, and 990 preparation. Perform work in accordance with internal controls and financial policies, to safeguard assets and ensure accountability. Support compliance with GAAP, IRS regulations, and State reporting requirements. Manage financial and banking systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Winvoice, I-Business Banking). Work with outsourced IT to ensure data security, files storage, and backup. Perform other work tasks as assigned. Experience Qualifications: Required: 3+ years’ experience in Accounting. Preferred: 5+ years’ experience in Non-Profit Accounting. Education Qualifications: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA a plus). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload to meet time-sensitive financial reporting deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with vendors and internal teams effectively. Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail in all work output. Demonstrated problem-solving ability and ability to identify process improvements. Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality requirements regarding EFGC finances. Solid understanding of the importance to adhere to compliance in accounting practices and reporting. Advanced proficiency in Excel. Proficient in Google, Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, Winvoice, and I-Business Banking. Reporting Relationship: VP of Finance, Operations, and People Physical Demands: Sitting - Frequent (36-66% of day) Standing - Occasional (0-35% of day) Walking - Occasional (0-35% of day) Lifting: 10 - 40lbs - Occasional (0-35% of day) Travel: No out of state travel requirements.
