Overview
Water / Wastewater Senior Project Engineer Water/Wastewater Senior Project Engineer position with Dewberry focusing on western geography from Denver to California. The candidate will have technical, managerial, and market access responsibilities to lead project execution and implement business strategy to develop new client work and maintain existing client relationships. The role includes developing and leveraging relationships to position Dewberry to perform water/wastewater projects in Colorado and across the western United States. The candidate will manage, support and execute a range of civil engineering water and wastewater projects for public sector utility clients and will support and/or supervise growing water department project management, engineering and technical staff operations. Collaboration with Dewberry leadership across the Water Service Line will advance the water practice in targeted geographies. The successful candidate will be an engineer with a diverse background and experience in developing and executing water and wastewater conveyance and/or pipeline projects. Applies thorough knowledge and expertise of current engineering principles to resolve crucial issues and project challenges. Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting the water business and recommends new practices or changes to internal programs. Supervises a growing staff of engineers and technicians. Plans, schedules, coordinates and performs the preparation of engineering assessments, preliminary designs, and design documents for multiple projects or an entire program. Develops statements of qualifications, detailed proposals, project execution plans, and contracts, including scope, pricing, schedule, terms and conditions; negotiates contracts. Implements quality management on project assignments and ensures quality processes are followed. Oversees project management and delivery to conform with scope, budget, and schedule. Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and performance measures. Increases Dewberry's visibility in the public sector water business through active participation in professional and community organizations. Participates in personnel decisions and manages personnel. Works in a team environment to leverage assets of the business unit and the Water Service Line to position, win, execute and deliver work. Required Skills & Required Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree is a plus. Colorado/California Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain. 10+ years of consulting experience with increasing levels of project and client responsibilities for public sector water and wastewater projects. 10+ years of project and client management experience. A recognized area of technical expertise is a plus. Proven track record of managing project scope, schedule and budget compliance. Experience with planning, design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure facilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong client management and business development skills. Strong leadership qualities and ability to coach and mentor staff. This posting is anticipated to close on October 20th 2025.
