About This Position
The Connectivity, Markets and Finance Division (IFD/CMF) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) seeks to scale up IDB’s current activities to promote green finance. Through Technical Cooperation programs, IFD/CMF aims to support the scaling up of private sector low carbon and resilient investments and by empowering local financial and capital market players to issue thematic bonds and include Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and climate-related information and coordinate and support the structuring of innovative green financing strategies, particularly in supporting portfolio activities across Latin America and the Caribbean region.
A consultant with expertise in green finance is required to support the execution of technical assistance programs as well as participate in the development of new technical assistance projects related to green finance in general, and/or sustainable debt, greening National Development Banks, especially climate risk management. The incumbent would also be responsible for ensuring that all support information, including implementation reporting and knowledge materials, is maintained within IDB information systems and beneficiary client information systems.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations of several green finance related programs and operations including coordination, budgeting, planning and preparation of business plans and technical cooperation documents, contracting and coordination of consultancies, monitoring and reporting of outputs, and knowledge dissemination activities; prepare progress reports and follow up with donors.
Support the preparation and execution of technical cooperations involving public development banks, such as operations from the Green Climate Fund Amazon Bioeconomy Fund (EC-T1524, Technical Cooperation Bioeconomy Bonds RG-T4365), under the workstreams of the Green Coalition (RG-T4413) and Regional Public Goods Technical Cooperation (RG-T4606).
Directly support clients in the implementation of IDB programs, ensuring clients have record-keeping systems, timely execution of planned activities, stakeholder consultation, workflow and consultant management, and product review.
Review and coordinate feedback on products and background materials developed by other consultants and consultancy firms in support to clients to ensure quality of outputs before delivery. Topics could cover climate risk management, Paris Alignment working group, and green and sustainable bond markets assessments.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Climate or a related discipline.
Experience: At least 5 years of relevant working experience with project management and green finance, financial and capital markets, and project management, of which 4 years should have been in an international environment, preferably in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.
Requirements
Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time.
Length of contract: 19 months.
