Director of Accounting
in Boston, in a hybrid role (2–3 days/week onsite). Reporting to the Corporate Controller, you’ll oversee a team of accounting professionals, ensure compliance, and drive manufacturing accounting, inventory management, and cash flow forecasting in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Salary : Up to $230,000 (DOE) + bonus + annual LTI (3-year vest) and comprehensive benefits. Location : Hybrid role based in Boston, MA (local Boston-area candidates only, 2–3 days/week onsite). What You’ll Do Oversee day-to-day, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Lead general ledger activities, accounts payable, payroll, revenue recognition, and cost accounting. Manage manufacturing accounting, inventory workflows, and cash flow forecasting to support operations. Ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and tax regulations, including corporate and sales tax. Serve as the primary contact for external auditors, facilitating annual audits and providing required schedules. Develop and enforce robust internal controls and accounting policies to enhance financial integrity. Drive process improvements and automation to streamline workflows and shorten close cycles. Oversee intercompany transactions, allocation methodologies, and physical inventory processes. Provide strategic financial insights to support R&D, manufacturing, and commercial operations. Lead and mentor a team of 5 direct reports and 3–4 indirect reports, fostering a culture of accountability. What We’re Looking For Experience: 10+ years in public accounting with leadership experience; life sciences, medical devices, or manufacturing strongly preferred. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Certifications: CPA required. Technical Skills: Expertise in ERP systems (SAP/NetSuite experience a plus); advanced Excel skills. Knowledge: Strong understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, manufacturing accounting, and inventory management. Skills: Exceptional leadership, analytical, and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams. Mindset: Solutions-oriented, hands-on, and thrives in a fast-paced, growth-driven environment.
