Design Leadership:
Own the full creative process for the wovens category from concept through final sample, ensuring alignment with Michael Kors’ aesthetic and seasonal vision. Team Development:
Guide and mentor assistant/associate designers, providing feedback, coaching, and helping structure workflow. Trend & Market Research:
Lead seasonal research across fabric, silhouette, and detail trends; translate findings into commercially viable product concepts. Fabric & Trim Innovation:
Partner with mills and vendors globally to source fabrics, trims, and finishes that balance innovation, sustainability, and margin requirements. Technical Oversight:
Develop and review design tech packs, illustrator sketches, and CADs; oversee spec and fit direction in collaboration with technical design. Cross-Functional Partnership:
Collaborate with merchandising, product development, and production to ensure cohesive assortment strategy and timely execution. Presentation:
Present seasonal concepts and design developments, directly to Senior Director, clearly articulating creative direction and rationale Business Mindset:
Anticipate opportunities within the category to drive growth, edit assortments strategically, and ensure a balance of innovation and core styles. You’ll Need to Have
Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design 8+ years of full-time professional design experience in women’s woven categories (focus on dresses) Strong understanding of silhouettes, fabrications, trims, and garment construction High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM systems Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills Ability to multi-task across multiple seasons and deadlines in a fast-paced environment A balance of creative vision and commercial awareness We’d Love to See
Experience mentoring or managing junior design talent Strong sketching, CAD, and presentation skills A collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach A self-starter mentality with resourcefulness and initiative Professionalism in demeanor, appearance, and communication Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and seasons simultaneously Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across teams and with overseas agents MK Perks
