Role Overview
I’m partnering with a leading independent renewable energy developer/operator that is scaling rapidly across solar and storage. Backed by long-term capital, they’re delivering utility-scale projects with a strong pipeline of construction starts over the next 12–18 months. This position requires a hands-on leader with deep technical knowledge, strong commercial instincts, and the ability to coordinate across contractors, consultants, and internal teams to maximize project and portfolio performance. Key Responsibilities
Oversee engineering, design, construction, and operations for all solar + storage projects in execution and operation.
Lead contractor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management, ensuring safety, quality, and budget/schedule adherence.
Anticipate risks such as construction delays, permitting challenges, and supply chain disruptions; develop mitigation strategies.
Manage EPC and third-party service providers (e.g., engineering, QA/QC, O&M), holding vendors accountable to deliverables and performance.
Provide technical oversight of Owner’s Equipment procurement, ensuring alignment with project requirements and cost targets.
Direct the operations & maintenance (O&M) strategy for commissioned projects, driving uptime, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Develop lifecycle asset management strategies, including preventive maintenance and technology upgrades.
Work with engineering partners to develop Basis of Design standards, streamlining the project lifecycle.
Partner with leadership on project strategy, insurance, contracts, and other initiatives to drive company growth.
Qualifications
15+ years of progressive leadership experience in engineering, construction, and operations within renewable energy (solar, storage, or wind).
Proven success in delivering utility-scale renewable projects from construction through COD and into operations.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management; advanced degree preferred.
Expertise in EPC contract negotiation, vendor management, and commercial risk mitigation.
Strong understanding of interconnection, permitting, QA/QC, and compliance requirements.
Experience developing and overseeing O&M strategies for utility-scale assets.
Demonstrated leadership ability to build, scale, and mentor high-performing technical and operational teams.
