The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position. Relevant fields include, but are not limited to, agricultural economics, natural resources, environmental economics, energy, international trade, applied econometrics and data science, labor, development, industrial organization, and public finance. Candidates whose research addresses climate solutions are encouraged to apply. We are most interested in attracting researchers who bring new methods to these fields. Applicants who bring interesting or novel methods (whether in applied theory or empirics) will be preferred, other things equal. Our department is committed to addressing the family needs of faculty, including dual career couples and single parents. We are also interested in candidates who have had non-traditional career paths or who have taken time off for family reasons. Position Overview : The current salary range for this position is $107,100-$157,800 (9-month academic year salary), however, off-scale salary and other components of pay, which would yield compensation that is higher than this range, are offered to meet competitive conditions. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026. Qualifications : Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree), or enrolled in Ph.D. or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of strong research productivity in relevant fields. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of undergraduates and graduate students.
