Overview: To provide ongoing curriculum development, implementation and evaluation of classroom and clinical instruction, participation in student advising, and registration. Full and active participation in the Department of Nursing committees to assist in the continued evolution of the Department of Nursing is an integral part of the position.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate the highest level of professional integrity and a commitment to professional nursing.

Maintain a frequent and active presence on campus, be available for counseling and advising students, and promote interaction between students and the academic environment.

Meet the assigned course load and contact hours (18 per year) as assigned by the Chairperson; be on campus at least three full days per week.

Attend faculty meetings, college and departmental functions, and informational sessions.

Ensure punctuality and attendance to meet all teaching commitments; make up any missed classes/clinical sessions.

Post office hours and be available for student appointments; minimum four hours per week, with outside-the-office availability as needed.

Inform students of mid-term and end-term progress during advisement meetings.

Administrative and clerical duties: prepare and file course outlines (syllabi) with the Chairperson, including objectives, topics, requirements, assignments, test dates, and evaluation criteria; distribute at the beginning of each semester.

Review Registrar rosters for accuracy and report discrepancies; complete attendance rosters and submit final grades in a timely manner.

As Course Coordinator for courses with a clinical laboratory, manage curriculum planning, syllabus development, distribution to clinical instructors, testing, scheduling, and communication with instructors and facilities; may teach a clinical section if needed.

Participate in committees, including preparation, writing, and editing of accreditation reports, candidacy drafts, and self-study reports for accrediting agencies and the State.

Education/Experience Qualifications

Must be a DNP-prepared FNP, with education from an accredited institution.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Self-directed and organized.

Clinical expertise demonstrated.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canvas, and internet usage.

Certifications/Licenses

Must hold an unencumbered NY State Professional RN license.

Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer or Health Provider.

Family Nurse Practitioner Certification.

Travel

Professional development at conferences, seminars, and meetings; some reimbursement may be provided by Touro.

Occasional local travel for training sessions/meetings.

Hours/Schedule

Occasional evenings for Information Sessions.

Occasional weekends.

Working Conditions

Ability to sit and stand for extended periods; operate standard office equipment; use a computer and telephone.

Ability to read computer screens, smart boards, and printed materials; hear and understand speech at normal levels.

Speak clearly to be understood; stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to a typical human body weight to simulate clinical scenarios.

Salary Maximum salary: USD 105,000 per year. Minimum salary: USD 84,000 per year.
