Surgery Scheduler Ambulatory - Cardiology Electrophysiology

The Surgical Scheduler must provide exceptional administrative support to the assigned department, providers, and patients. The role includes scheduling office-based and hospital procedures, excellent customer service skills, and responding to written and oral correspondence regarding appointments, cancellations, and delays. Primary Accountabilities Quality/No Harm: Schedule pre-operative and post-operative appointments. Order pre-operative labs and testing, and enter them into the Electronic Medical Record. Schedule surgical procedures at multiple ORs. Coordinate surgical assistance and arrange for surgical equipment representatives. Ensure H & Ps are sent to the appropriate facility. Update physician calendars with the surgical schedule. Order/schedule diagnostic testing and enter it into the EMR. Ensure pre-operative clearance is obtained. Complete disability paperwork for surgical patients. Enter surgical charges into the financial system for accurate invoicing. Stewardship Greet patients in the ambulatory setting, ensuring a positive customer experience. Answer multi-line telephones, handling internal and external calls, and respond to phone messages. Answer patient questions associated with the surgery schedule, procedures, preparation, or after-care. Make outward-bound calls to patients having outpatient procedures to check on their status and answer questions. Customer Experience Communicate with physician office/registration staff regarding documentation concerns. Respond and relay documentation/coding issues/concerns from and to Health First departments and physician’s offices. Work Experience Minimum three years’ experience in an ambulatory healthcare environment performing administrative duties. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes. Preferred Qualifications Certification: Certified Medical Assistant/Registered Medical Assistant. One year of experience in a surgery scheduling role.
