Overview
We are seeking Systems Engineering Lead with TS/SCI clearance (on site in Northern Virginia). This is a customer-facing role and will require you to be on-site in Northern Virginia. This is NOT a remote position. We are looking for an experienced DevOps engineer to join a team of highly motivated software, systems & security engineers working on infrastructure at scale in support of US National Security customers. You will help solve infrastructure deployment issues with software, deliver high-velocity and high-quality infrastructure in specialized public cloud environments, and deliver innovative database services.
Note:
Qualification for this job is contingent upon acceptable results from a background investigation as well as maintaining the required level of U.S. government background investigation and clearance for this role.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate autonomy and ownership of your areas, proactively driving progress.
Collaborate with internal teams to iterate automated CI/CD pipelines, maintain Production environments, and transform manual processes into automated governance solutions.
Deploy software patches for EC2 and EKS-based services, manage EKS clusters, support new platform releases, and verify deployments by monitoring performance and resolving issues.
Work with partners from various teams to improve service health, monitoring, and visibility.
Understand large-scale production infrastructure with third-party cloud service providers.
Advocate for maturation of CI/CD pipelines, incorporating feedback to enhance efficiency and maintain feature velocity for service owners.
Create and maintain detailed business process documentation to enable streamlined business processes.
Requirements
Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
A related technical degree or equivalent experience.
2+ years of Linux system engineering experience.
1+ years of scripting/programming experience (Shell, Perl, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, Go).
2+ years of experience deploying services on and building on AWS.
1+ years of experience deploying distributed applications with containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS, GKS).
Desirable
BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Experience integrating security and compliance into pipelines (OPA, Twistlock, Prisma, Casbin).
Experience with monitoring tools like Nagios, Grafana, Splunk, Graphite, Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Zabbix, etc.
Experience with LSM-Tree/Ledger databases like AWS QLDB or LevelDB, or LSM storage systems like Apache Bookkeeper.
3+ years of development experience in configuration management (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform).
6+ years of Linux system engineering experience.
3+ years of experience developing or securing infrastructure and applications for highly sensitive data/environments.
3+ years of experience deploying with CI orchestration services (Jenkins, Spinnaker).
3+ years of experience with scripting/programming languages (Shell, Perl, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, Go).
6+ years of experience working on AWS.
Experience coordinating across service teams, designing guardrails, and providing rapid, self-service feedback on service efficacy and security.
Proven problem-solving experience in building compute capacity in fast-paced environments and leading key projects in design, development, and post-release support of large-scale tools.
Ability to evaluate new technologies to solve problems and contribute to test and deploy service design.
