PRIMARY PURPOSE:
We are seeking a dedicated, part-time General Dentist to join our mission-driven team at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving diverse communities across South Florida. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in an FQHC or similar community health setting and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-site environment, including mobile dental outreach. This role emphasizes clinical excellence, infection control, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance, while delivering compassionate and comprehensive dental care. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide high-quality dental care to patients of all ages, including preventive, restorative, and emergency services. Perform dental procedures such as:
Examinations and cleanings, fillings and crowns, simple and complex extractions, denture fittings and adjustments, limited endodontic procedures
(as appropriate). Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and OSHA standards. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Collaborate with dental assistants, hygienists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and peer reviews. Provide services in both fixed clinic locations and the mobile dental unit as scheduled. Educate patients on oral health, hygiene, and preventive care. Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, including HRSA and UDS reporting requirements. Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to educate patients on oral health, hygiene, and preventive care. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Ability to work collaboratively across departments. Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume patient load. Knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to endure short, intermittent, and/or long periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing 15 pounds or less. Full range of body motion required. Position requires reaching, bending, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and sight. Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases and utilizing standard precautions to prevent transmission of diseases acquired by contact with blood, body fluids, non-intact skin and mucous membranes. Accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, e.g. pens, pencils, calculators, computer keyboard, telephone, etc. Ability to travel to other locations and perform job duties. Ability to travel to other locations to attend meetings, workshops, and seminars, plus travel to other departments and conference rooms. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school. Active Florida dental license in good standing. Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience preferred, ideally in an FQHC or community-health setting. Current CPR/BLS certification. DEA registration and the ability to prescribe medications. Strong commitment to serving underserved populations. Bilingual (English/Haitian Creole or English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Fast-paced, team-oriented clinical setting. Travel between sites and mobile unit required. Flexible schedule may include occasional evenings or weekends for outreach events. BENEFITS:
