Performs routine procedures using independent professional judgment in the practice of optometry within the scope of the laws of the state of California, the rules and regulations of the California Board of Optometry, and the policies of Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center. Compensation: $(phone number removed) - $(phone number removed) annualized, depending on experience. TVHC offers compensation ranges that are determined by a thorough market-based analysis and are fully disclosed in accordance with California law. The pay for a selected candidate is determined by a variety of factors to ensure fair and equitable compensation. These factors include the candidate\'s experience, education, skills, training, licensure, certifications, and the specific scope of the role. Responsibilities and requirements are listed below. Responsibilities
Examine, diagnose, treat, and manage diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye, and associated structures related to systemic conditions, including diabetes and hypertension Prescribe eyeglasses and therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision Conduct and document history, measuring refractive error, conducting visual & confrontational fields, pupil testing, ocular mobility testing, slit lamp examination, direct & indirect ophthalmoscopy, gonioscopy, applanation tomography, and tear function testing Perform and analyze visual fields, OCT tomography, topography, and ocular photography Perform eye exams on all ages, ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics Use observation, instruments, and pharmaceutical agents to diagnose ocular diseases and other ocular abnormalities Provide contact lens evaluation of spherical, toric, and multifocal soft and hard lenses Interpret data from clinical exam, analyze test results, and develop a treatment plan Perform other related duties such as completing school forms, DMV, and other like documents Order and review lab results Train assistants to perform screening and other functions as appropriate Educate and counsel patients on ocular pathology, contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements and safety factors Consult with and refer patients to ophthalmologist or other health care practitioner if additional medical treatment is determined necessary Requirements
Requires valid California Optometry license DPA, TPA, and Glaucoma certified BLS Certification required Prior EPIC chart experience is a plus Qualifications
Bilingual in Spanish/English is a preferred, but not required Knowledge of optometric methods, procedures, practices Cultural competence working in diverse communities Ability to perform eye examinations on children and adults Ability in exercising sound judgment in quickly evaluating emergency situations; in rendering prompt decisions Ability to write concisely and legibly; communicate effectively; and relate congenially to patients and staff Ability to travel to other clinics as needed Benefits
