Barry’s is the Best Workout in the WorldTM. Founded in West Hollywood in 1998, it’s the original strength and cardio interval fitness experience that provides an immersive, high‑intensity, one‑hour workout. Our program is designed to tone muscle and maximize fat loss, while spiking the metabolism for up to 48 hours following the class.
Smoking is prohibited in all indoor areas of Barry’s studios and corporate offices.
About The Role The General Manager serves as the leader of their single Barry’s studio, and is responsible for overall operation, client experience, people management, and performance. A successful candidate is passionate about health and wellness, enjoys leading a team, can work with local and remote teams, and thrives in a fast‑paced, people‑oriented setting.
What You’ll Do
Studio Operations
Oversee daily studio operations and studio management teams, including Front Desk, FuelBar, Retail and Facilities operations.
Manage and drive studio performance, assess and meet key studio, retail, and FuelBar metrics, and make informed business decisions.
Oversee all labor schedules to ensure proper coverage and alignment with budgeted hours.
Conduct regular inspections of all studio spaces and manage facilities projects, coordinating with local and corporate leadership.
Maintain a working presence in studios, covering shifts as needed to showcase brand standards and mentor staff and managers.
Assist with new studio openings when necessary.
Team Leadership
Coordinate communications between supervisors, peers, and subordinates to ensure departments are supported and supplied.
In partnership with other studio management, recruit, screen, and onboard new employees across all departments.
Assess training across the studio to ensure staff meet Barry’s hospitality standards.
Coach a team, conduct regular performance reviews, and work with People and Culture on personnel matters.
Partner with the Director of Operations to source and hire new management candidates and build a talent pipeline.
Community Marketing and Studio Dynamics
Collaborate with local and corporate marketing on brand initiatives that benefit clients and staff.
Contribute to client and corporate acquisition strategy for the studio, adjusting as needed.
Foster a unified culture and high staff engagement across the studio and regional teams.
Company Culture
Uphold Barry’s community and culture standards, and live the company mission, vision, and values daily.
Represent the Barry’s brand within the studio and the local fitness community.
Qualifications
3–5 years of fitness management or related experience (hospitality, retail, food/beverage, etc.).
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or equivalent experience.
Financial acumen and the ability to assess the financial impact of decisions.
Availability for full‑time work during non‑traditional hours (early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays).
Ability to train, lead, motivate, and delegate to a team.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to work cooperatively with different personalities and departments, vendors, and clients.
Excellent written and oral communication, organization, and time management skills.
Detail‑oriented with a focus on customer satisfaction.
Strong negotiation, mediation, and problem‑solving skills.
Dependability and reliability; friendly, optimistic attitude.
Professional appearance and behavior; enthusiasm for the Barry’s brand.
Physical/Travel Requirements
Ability to kneel, bend, reach, climb, and stand for long durations.
Ability to move and lift equipment and supplies up to 30 pounds.
The Pay Range For This Role Is
80,000 – 85,000 USD per year (New York)
