We’re looking for a visionary Product Design Director to lead Bumble’s Core Experience team. This group is responsible for shaping the connective tissue of Bumble’s products — the foundational flows, interaction patterns, and design frameworks that define how users experience our ecosystem across iOS, Android, and Web. As the leader of Core Experience, you’ll ensure that the fundamentals of our product experience — onboarding, navigation, discovery, messaging, safety interactions, and more — are not only consistent and intuitive but also emotionally resonant and aligned with Bumble’s values of respect, excellence, curiosity, courage, and joy. You’ll partner closely with cross-functional leaders across Product, Engineering, Research, and Brand to establish a cohesive product vision and deliver seamless, high-quality user experiences at scale. Key Responsibilities
Lead and Inspire the Core Experience Team: Manage, mentor, and grow a team of product designers focused on foundational product flows, interaction models, and core UX patterns. Establish clear vision and priorities for what “best-in-class” core experiences should look and feel like. Define and Elevate Core Journeys: Own critical user journeys (e.g., onboarding, navigation, messaging, safety interactions, subscription moments) and ensure they are delightful, inclusive, and intuitive. Champion accessibility and inclusivity as core pillars of design excellence. Balance Systems and Experience: Leverage design systems and patterns to scale quality and cohesion, but always anchor decisions in real user experience outcomes. Partner with the Systems team to ensure consistency, speed, and craft across platforms. Drive Strategic Alignment Across Functions: Collaborate deeply with Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science to define strategy, prioritize investments, and deliver experiences that resonate globally. Influence product decisions with a holistic perspective on usability, desirability, and feasibility. Raise the Bar for Craft and Innovation: Set and uphold a high standard for interaction design, motion, and visual polish. Explore innovative approaches to social interaction, connection-building, and trust in digital spaces. Shape Culture and Community: Foster a culture of user-first thinking, inclusivity, and experimentation within the Design org. Be an ambassador for Core Experience across Bumble and beyond. Why This Role is Critical
As Bumble evolves into a multi-product ecosystem, the core experiences become the connective foundation that unites our products. This role ensures that every interaction — from a first tap to a meaningful conversation — feels effortless, empowering, and distinctly Bumble. What You’ll Find Here
