Overview
LMI is seeking a Senior Research Specialist to support our team within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)). This role supports the A&S human resources staff in the Directorate for Business Operations by advising senior level authorities with military staffing, performance appraisals, awards, and professional development to comply with regulatory mandates. Communication with the organization’s senior-level staff and collaboration with a broad range of personnel is also required. The position will be located at the Pentagon. This position requires an Active Secret clearance. Responsibilities
Assist in developing and staffing for approval by the ED, DBO internal HR policies, instructions, and procedures governing the various HR functional areas within OUSD(A&S). Independently prepare and brief various HR data reports to include trend analyses in support of OUSD(A&S) talent management programs. Perform Human Resource administrative duties as required for the Director, Human Resources. Manage all incoming/outgoing correspondence and suspense actions. Coordinate and prepare directorate personnel actions and schedule and oversee meetings and conferences on behalf of the Director. Develop and/or use simple databases and spreadsheets; assist with data collection, data analysis, and research. Demonstrate ability to collect, analyze, and transform data into clear, actionable insights using tools like Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, or other data visualization platforms, ensuring presentations are visually appealing and easy to understand. Perform data quality and data assurance reviews; conduct data analyses using qualitative and quantitative methods, prepare summary displays to report analysis results and findings. Planning and execution of studies, working groups, projects, and other activities that span across the multiple organizations and agencies. Develop and deliver briefings and white papers as required to document and provide the results of any analysis performed. Skilled in developing intuitive dashboards, charts, and trend analyses to communicate findings effectively, supporting informed decision-making at all levels of leadership. Perform editing, document formatting, and proofreading. Aid with meeting logistics and preparing briefings. Respond to internal and external substantive questions and inquiries on assigned tasks and projects. Analyze and respond to congressional, DoDIG, and GAO inquiries regarding portfolio programs. Track programs throughout the acquisition lifecycle to monitor execution and end-to-end functionality within cost and schedule constraints. Maintain cognizance of future programs, areas of interest and emerging requirements. Give clear oral and written explanations of assigned tasks, relevant issues, analytic approach, and results. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience supporting executive level DoD leadership. Existing knowledge of DoD/OSD, a strategic mindset, good written and oral communications skills commensurate with daily interaction at the Under Secretary level. Experience in leading and providing technical guidance and direction involving multiple projects of high complexity. Must have experience in managing customer expectations and working directly with customers. Must have outstanding customer service abilities, initiative, judgement, creativity, flexibility, and confidence. Must have the ability to multi-task across multiple projects. Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc. Active Secret clearance required. The target salary range for this position is up to $145,000. The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation. Individual salaries are determined by various factors including, but not limited to location, internal equity, business considerations, client contract requirements, and candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, skills, and security clearances.
