Senior I&C Designer role at BW Design Group. You will join one of our 45 offices in the US, be part of a team of over 1500 professionals, and work with clients to solve challenges that shape the world around us. The Sr. Designer, I&C position partners with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver high‑quality I&C solutions with consistency and accuracy. What You’ll Do
Work with licensed engineers and experienced designers to design panels, planview drawings, BIM models, and related I&C deliverables for industrial facilities. Train/mentor less experienced professionals in client and industry standards and best practices. Demonstrate leadership to manage a team of designers through project execution. Develop IO wire pull schedules, and perform conduit, wire sizing, voltage drop, conduit fill, and cable tray sizing. Develop Network cable pull schedules. Create construction drawings for I&C deliverables such as P&IDs, panel drawings, standard installation details, schematics, connection diagrams, and plans. Interpret and apply industry codes and standards, including hazardous area classification for electrical equipment. Develop specifications and review vendor submittals. Provide on-site assessment, construction support, and start-up support. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines across multiple offices. Make an impact daily with your skills and expertise, strengthening relationships with clients and the team. What You’ll Bring (Qualifications)
Eight+ years of relevant experience. Experience executing industrial facility projects with focus on quality, cost effectiveness, and safety. Knowledge of National Electrical Code Standards (NEC). Technical competency in instrumentation, control systems, panel design, and related areas. Proficiency in calculations for wire sizing, voltage drop, conduit fill, and cable tray sizing. Experience in design criteria and specification preparation for I&C equipment. Skills in instrument selection and creating datasheets, IO lists, cable schedules, and instrument and valve indexes. Experience designing wiring and conduit drawings using AutoCAD and 3D modeling in Revit. Ability to develop construction drawings and review work packages. Understanding of digital communication protocols and cross‑system communication methods. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with management, clients, and vendors. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Revu/Bluebeam. Willingness to travel for project requirements including installation, startup, client meetings, trainings, and industry events.
