The Plant Engineer will provide engineering support and project leadership for the plant. The role is expected to spend approximately 60% of time on project-related activities and 40% on plant support activities, with the possibility that either activity may exceed expectations. The Plant Engineer I will lead project implementation, production and equipment improvement initiatives and support daily plant operations to achieve safety and quality goals. Responsibilities
Project management, project planning, project coordination, purchasing, and supervision of contractors for various projects to assure timely completion within budget. Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements. Lead and assist management with appropriate training to assure regulatory compliance. Report to the Director of Engineering with a dotted line to the Plant Manager. Maintain communication/relationships with all employees, vendors, visitors. Provide necessary safety training to contractors and others as necessary. Follow, monitor, and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations, and policies. Attend daily production/quality meetings. Provide technical support for plant processes and improvements. Observe facility operations and assist with problem solving on a regular basis. Assist management with appropriate training to assure regulatory compliance. Qualifications
Education : BS degree in engineering or a technical related area from an accredited college/university; Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical preferred. Related Experience : Proven engineering experience of 3 - 5 years. Equipment/Software Skills : Working knowledge of personal computers (Microsoft software necessary; Project management, Microsoft Project preferred), basic understanding with Allen Bradley PLC. Knowledge of CMMS such as MP2 is a plus. Must have good working knowledge of general PC systems. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations : None required; any maintenance-related licenses would be a plus such as PE, ASME welding, PLCs, wastewater, etc. Additional Information
Physical : Ability to walk distances across facility, climb steps and ladders on occasions; desk work in office; may be in cooler environments (35-45 degrees) or engine room (hot months up to +95 degrees). Sensory : Ability to hear, see, speak, smell and touch well to perform essential tasks. Mental/Reasoning : Basic problem solving skills are necessary.
