Our staffing agency is partnering with a leading mechanical contracting firm to identify a strategic and experienced Director of Purchasing. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing procurement operations, developing supplier relationships, and driving purchasing strategies that align with organizational goals for quality, cost, and efficiency. Location:

Pleasanton, CA + travel 15-20% to regional branch offices from the primary location. Pay:

$133k-$172k/annually Schedule:

Monday-Friday Key Responsibilities: Lead all procurement-related functions including purchasing, subcontracting, vendor management, tool cribs, fabrication shops, facility management, and capital expenditures. Develop and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and team engagement. Hold signature authority for purchase orders, subcontracts, and capital expenditure contracts. Review and negotiate subcontract agreements, including non-union requests and bond documentation. Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers across markets. Collaborate with business unit managers to align purchasing strategies with operational needs. Monitor and report on productivity KPIs for project buyers. Conduct regular meetings with direct reports to address issues, guide strategy, and ensure ethical supplier practices. Prepare quarterly reports for executive leadership detailing procurement challenges, cost impacts, and recovery plans. Manage supplier performance, mitigate delays, and resolve billing disputes. Stay informed on commodity markets and material demand trends to optimize cost positions. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or related field. 10+ years of progressive experience in purchasing leadership roles. Proven ability to lead diverse teams and drive strategic initiatives. Strong negotiation, dispute resolution, and communication skills. Deep understanding of supply chain and subcontracting complexities. Demonstrated success in process and project management. High ethical standards and commitment to organizational advocacy.
