Overview

Cloud Solutions Architect - Digital Technology Services at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute (Hackensack Meridian Health network). This role focuses on shaping the strategic vision and technical direction of the cloud platform, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud solutions. Responsibilities

Architect and Design Cloud Solutions: provide technical leadership in designing, developing, and optimizing cloud architectures for scalability, performance, security, and cost efficiency across HMH cloud environments. Define Cloud Strategy and Standards: establish and enforce cloud architecture best practices, governance, and automation standards, ensuring alignment with enterprise principles. Enable Cloud-Native Innovation: promote cloud-native architectures, containers, serverless computing, and DevSecOps to accelerate digital transformation initiatives. Communicate Enterprise Architecture: articulate the HMH Enterprise Architecture (Hub and Spoke) and the rationale of the approach. Provide Guidance on Cloud Automation and IaC: advise on automated workflows for provisioning, maintaining, and monitoring cloud environments using IaC. Lead Cloud Platform Engineering Efforts: mentor cloud engineers and guide best practices for architecture, automation, security, and operational excellence. Cross-Team Architectural Guidance: collaborate with Architects, Security, Application, and Infrastructure teams to design resilient, compliant, and scalable cloud solutions. Evaluate Emerging Technologies: stay ahead of trends and recommend new cloud technologies to enhance capabilities and efficiency. Security and Compliance: partner with Cloud Security and Cybersecurity teams to embed controls and risk mitigation into cloud solutions. Cloud Governance and Best Practices: define patterns, guardrails, and automation frameworks for a secure, reliable, and cost-effective environment. Architecture Reviews and Optimization: conduct reviews, performance assessments, and cost analyses to maximize business value. Thought Leadership and Technical Vision: contribute to long-term cloud strategy and roadmaps. Documentation: create reference architectures, whitepapers, implementation guides, and runbooks. Escalation Point for Cloud Engineering: assist with complex cloud challenges and operational issues. Enterprise Decision-Making: engage with senior leadership to guide cloud adoption and modernization. Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery: ensure high availability and resilience of cloud architectures. Architecture Review Boards: represent the team in technology reviews in favor of cloud-first solutions. DevOps and Automation Tooling: promote CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and automation using tools like GitHub, Terraform, Terraform Cloud, and Cloud Build. Technical Oversight: drive end-to-end cloud design, implementation, and readiness for critical workloads. Stakeholder Collaboration: partner with business and IT leadership to align architectures with strategic objectives. Continuous Improvement: contribute to evolving cloud strategy and operational excellence. Other duties as assigned and adherence to organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience (totaling four years). Minimum of 10+ years in IT infrastructure, cloud engineering, and cloud architecture, leading cloud-based solutions. Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS architectures. Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, automation, DevOps, and IaC with tools such as Terraform, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines. Experience designing highly available, resilient, and scalable cloud architectures with emphasis on security, compliance, and cost efficiency. Knowledge of networking, security, and identity management for cloud computing (zero trust, hybrid cloud, secure architectures). Experience with governance, cloud security principles, HIPAA, SOC 2, NIST, and risk management in cloud environments. Ability to define and drive cloud strategy and roadmaps aligned to business goals and modernization efforts. Ability to support decisions with research, industry trends, and data-driven insights. Experience in enterprise IT environments (applications, middleware, storage, networking, security, operations). Ability to provide technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural guidance to cloud teams. Strong communication and collaboration skills with executives, architects, engineers, developers, and stakeholders. Problem-solving and analytical skills to assess complex environments and develop scalable solutions. Experience in agile and DevOps environments with automation and cloud-native development. Excellent written and verbal communication for technical and executive audiences. Knowledge of container modernization (e.g., Google Kubernetes Engine, Azure AKS) and related frameworks. Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite. Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred

Experience in healthcare or highly regulated industries. Leadership in cloud transformation, including large-scale migrations and automation-first strategies. Expertise in containerized and event-driven systems (Kubernetes, Docker). FinOps experience including cost optimization and cloud investment strategies. Experience defining and enforcing cloud standards, reference architectures, policy enforcement, and governance. Multi-cloud expertise across GCP, Azure, and AWS, with interoperability and hybrid strategies. Experience leading enterprise-wide cloud adoption with governance and DevSecOps at scale. Licenses And Certifications Required

Google Cloud Platform Certified Professional Cloud Architect. Licenses And Certifications Preferred

Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification. Google Cloud Platform Certified Professional Cloud Security Engineer. Compensation: Minimum rate of $153,732.80 Annually.
