Overview

Senior Research Administrator in the Pediatric Oncology department at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Manages complex research portfolios for multiple laboratories, operates with autonomy, and serves in a leadership role within the department business office as a senior resource to peers. Responsibilities

Portfolio Management (post-award): financial management of sponsored and institutional funds, prepare financial and narrative reports for sponsors, provide projections and summaries to investigators, ensure spending adheres to budgets and guidelines, invoice and monitor receivables for clinical trial enrollment, establish billing agreements as appropriate, and track milestones and receivables for industry agreements. Clinical Research Administration: create study-specific budgets for grant-funded and investigator-initiated clinical trials, review protocols for budgeting and billing compliance, prepare comprehensive clinical trial finance reporting, present reports to disease center leaders, and manage collection of all outstanding receivables including milestone grid management; communicate non-standard care services for billing. Procurement: approve/initiate purchase requests via Purchase Orders and PCard; verify funds, allowability, and timely allocation; review and approve core/center service bills. Human Resources: onboarding financial analysis for funding availability, assist with job descriptions, post positions, approve salary offers, process visa applications and payments; ongoing processing of merit, equity, and promotions; manage salary allocations per funding guidelines; offboarding and termination processes. Compliance: ensure adherence to internal and external policies; advise on MTA, DUA and consulting agreements; educate researchers on NIH Grants Policy Statement and DFCI policies; manage Time and Effort process and related certifications. Cores, Centers, and Chargebacks: assist in pricing development, monthly billing for internal/external customers, manage funds to align revenue with expenditures. Supervisory Responsibilities: may advise on the work of others. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred 5 years of relevant experience Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Computer literacy: expert with new applications; advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills. Organization: experience with electronic document and email storage; ability to complete projects accurately and on time; strong prioritization and multitasking. Customer Service: exemplary written and verbal communication; strong listening, inquiry, follow-up, and problem-solving abilities. Critical Thinking: ability to assess complex situations and develop solutions; experience analyzing grant data and applying regulations (NIH and other federal, state, and foundation policies). Financial: budgeting expertise, including projections and integrating multiple awards with varying periods. Teamwork and Collaboration: ability to work with faculty, research staff, department teams, and central offices. Institute operations and processes: knowledge of regulations, policies, and SOPs; ability to guide researchers to appropriate resources.
