AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to innovation. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate across AWS to deliver safety and security while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers, and you’ll contribute to an inclusive culture that empowers you to own ideas to completion. Engineers in AWS work to design resilient, cost‑effective Data Center facilities. Our team aims for world‑class uptime and develops a fleet of buildings emphasizing security, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness while meeting growing AWS demand. As a DC Structural Engineer at AWS, you will be part of the design team for Amazon DCs in our Americas Region and impact projects around the world. You will work with Architects, Engineers, and Designers to solve problems, validate technical solutions, review milestone drawings by consultants, resolve large‑scale implementation issues, and be responsible for structural design requirements as a subject matter expert. Responsibilities
Be part of the design team for Amazon data centers in the Americas region and influence projects globally. Provide technical guidance to team members, review milestone drawings by consultants, and solve large‑scale implementation issues. Be responsible for structural design requirements and ensure solutions meet safety, security, efficiency, and cost objectives. Collaborate with Architects, Engineers, and Designers to challenge status quo and deliver prototypical DC facilities. Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: ABET‑accredited Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering; PE or SE license; 10+ years of experience in structural design for industrial or commercial projects; 5+ years with design of Data Center, Mission Critical, Hospital, Schools, Commercial, or Residential Tower facilities. Proficiency in building codes and regulations including IBC and ASCE. Detailed understanding of tilt‑up and precast concrete structures, structural steel systems, seismic design, wind loading, snow loading, and forensic analysis of building design and construction defects. Experience in value engineering for building structural systems. Experience in design and calculation for auxiliary framing systems supporting cable tray, conduit, ductwork, etc. Experience in design and review of non‑structural components and non‑building structures. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market.
