Full Stack AI Software Engineer at Inbox Health Inbox Health is a fast-growing company transforming how billers, patients and providers communicate and handle medical billing. As a venture-backed SaaS company based in New Haven, CT, we\'ve built our core platform to support medical billers and are expanding our offerings to provider and patient-facing applications that leverage AI to provide enhanced workflows. The AI team builds user-centric applications using Ember backed by a Ruby on Rails API deployed in a Kubernetes cluster and supported by AWS services. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help scale and enhance our AI offerings, focusing on creating new AI-powered features and enhancing existing ones. Strong skills in Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and LLM APIs are required; familiarity with Ember is a plus but not essential. Inbox Health uses Agile development methodology.
Responsibilities
Working with product teams to determine performant and efficient protocols and software design patterns to solve business problems and turning specifications into actionable Agile tasks
Designing and implementing LLM API integrations, advocating for best practices
Designing and implementing REST API resources, workers, and automated tasks using Ruby on Rails
Handling complex data modeling and performance testing problems
Using technologies including the Ember framework to create new features while enhancing existing ones
Writing complex SQL queries for the PostgreSQL database
Designing unit tests in RSpec for product feature requests and advocating for best testing practices
Writing maintainable, modular code and participating in collaborative code reviews
Debugging production issues in the technology stack
Mentoring and assisting junior engineers and providing guidance to the team
Engaging with internal users to answer questions and support product requests
Qualifications
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent preferred but not required with proven experience
6+ years of professional software engineering experience
3+ years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails, JavaScript/NodeJS and Reactive JS frameworks
Strong proficiency with the Ruby programming language and Ruby on Rails
Strong debugging skills
Proficiency with database and data modeling
Strong proficiency with LLM APIs; OpenAI experience is a plus
