Grady Health System
The Regional Medical Director works closely and collaboratively with the Assigned Medical Directors, Director of Practice Operations and Nurse leader locally, as well as the Chief Ambulatory Officer and AVP of Primary Care of their region, to ensure high quality, safe, timely, patient centered, team based patient care in accordance with the mission and vision of Grady Health System. Regional Medical Director are responsible for multiple departments/locations. Reports to Chief of Ambulatory Medicine.
Ensures provision of safe, high quality, proactive, comprehensive, culturally-competent medical care of patients receiving care in their region of Grady ambulatory clinics
Assumes responsibility for maintaining and enhancing competency of medical staff and Advanced Practice Professions (APPs) under their supervision
Works with Practice Administrator (PA) and Nurse Supervisor (NS) to monitor and manage clinical operational processes including cycle time, volume, and access as well as quality of care. Provide corrective action plans for any measures not meeting standards
Works with PA, NS, and providers to promote communication and team effectiveness
Practices AIDET and takes personal responsibility for patient engagement
Provides timely and effective responses to patient complaints; monitors patient satisfaction scores and coaches low performing providers
Communicates information about Ambulatory priorities, goals, initiatives, and policies to clinicians and staff
Utilizes evidence-based decision-making process to diagnose and treat patients and ensures that providers under their supervision do the same
Actively participates in division-wide and/or system-wide committees
Completes successful on-boarding of all new providers
Supervises the daily activities of providers, including coordination of leave, monitoring of attendance, and monitoring in in-basket/chart completion
Participates in the selection, training, and evaluation of providers
Identifies clinical issues for quality improvement/process improvement projects and collaborates and implements such projects. Research collaboration with medical schools optional.
Participates in education of medical students, nursing students, allied health students, residents if appropriate
Advances the tenets of health equity within their span of control
Maintains active privileges of Grady Health System Medical Staff and timely completion of required administrative paperwork

QUALIFICATIONS
Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO) is required. CPE, MHA, or MBA is preferred. Experience in Process Improvement/Quality Improvement initiatives. Licensed by the State of Georgia without restriction to practice medicine. Board certified in Primary Care specialty, including internal medicine, pediatrics, and family medicine.
