We are seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead the Confluence Onboarding experience, focused on activating new customers from our Land (Acquisition) and Cross-sell motions. This role is critical in shaping how new technical and business user admins first experience Confluence, ensuring they discover its value quickly and stay engaged long-term. You will own the strategy and roadmap for helping new admins successfully adopt Confluence — understanding who they are, guiding them into the right parts of the product, and enabling them to realize value during their crucial first weeks. This work directly impacts Atlassian’s growth by ensuring new customers not only sign up, but also activate and expand. Responsibilities
Define the onboarding strategy for new Confluence admins across acquisition and cross-sell journeys. Deeply understand jobs-to-be-done for both technical and business user admins as they set up Confluence for the first time. Shape the first-time admin experience: landing users into the right product areas, tailoring guidance, and removing friction. Partner closely with Design and Research to develop empathetic, intuitive experiences that balance user needs with business goals. Collaborate with Marketing, Core Product, and Growth teams to ensure onboarding connects seamlessly with upstream acquisition and cross-sell motions. Work with Engineering and Data Science to define metrics, run experiments, and measure success of onboarding flows. Drive alignment across Atlassian to deliver a cohesive, value-driven admin journey. Qualifications
7+ years in product management, with at least 3 years in SaaS Activation/Onboarding, Consumer, or E-Commerce roles. Strong analytical skills; experience with product analytics, experimentation, and data-driven decision making. Proficiency in using prototyping AI tools to rapidly test and validate onboarding concepts and flows. Strong written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise onboarding content, documentation, and cross-functional communication. Experience onboarding technical and business user personas in B2B SaaS - Preferred Familiarity with Atlassian products or similar collaboration platforms - Preferred Compensation
At Atlassian, we design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. The baseline of our range is higher than the typical market range, with most candidates hired near the baseline. Base pay within the range is determined by skills, expertise, and experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges are: Zone A - 193,500 - 252,625 Zone B - 174,600 - 227,950 Zone C - 161,100 - 210,325 This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
