ABOUT THE JOB We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President, Controller to lead our accounting processes and integrating financial data across a diverse portfolio of operating companies. As a key member of the Accounting leadership team, the VP, Controller will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and strategic accounting functions that enhance enterprise-wide decision-making, supports investment strategies, and drives value creation. The ideal candidate will balance strong technical accounting acumen with a hands-on, collaborative approach to working with portfolio company leadership, ensuring alignment with the overall financial strategy of the company. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/THE DAY-TO-DAY : Oversee timely and accurate financial closings (monthly, quarterly, annual) in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies Manage preparation of consolidated financial statements and external reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements Partner with operating company leadership and team members to drive consistent financial reporting standards and key performance metrics across the portfolio. Prepare and present financial reports to leadership/stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accuracy in financial performance narratives. Drive system enhancements and automation to scale financial operations with business growth Provide strategic insights to executive leadership to support business planning and decision-making Ensure financial controls, risk management policies, and compliance frameworks are upheld across all entities, aligning with industry best practices. Lead/liaison internal and external audit processes, tax compliance efforts, and regulatory reporting, manage external auditors and external advisors. Align accounting strategies with the investment and operational goals of the family office and portfolio companies. Assist in financial due diligence, post-acquisition integration, and ongoing financial governance for new investments. Foster a collaborative, high-performance finance culture, ensuring knowledge-sharing and financial discipline across the organization. Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing accounting team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement AM I THE RIGHT FIT? Not everyone can be a VP, Controller. To be seriously considered for the role here is what you’ll bring: Education/Licenses/Certification: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA certification Experience: Required 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role 3+ years of Big 4 public accounting experience, strongly preferred Leading and overseeing full audit cycles CPG experience preferred Real estate and alternative investments experience preferred Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal control frameworks (SOX experience a plus) Proficiency with Microsoft Business Central accounting software and system implementation is highly-preferred Detail-oriented and organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously, strong time management and project management skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of managing difficult situations with tact and diplomacy Demonstrated people skills necessary to coordinate the flow of information to and from staff who possess varying levels of experience Ability to identify, research and solve problems, formulate ideas Demonstrate strong personal leadership, high integrity and growth mindset Tech savvy and an advanced user of Excel and other office software Self-motivated and resourceful Ability to bring data to life in a clear, concise, and easy-to-understand presentation Ability to work comfortably with executive leaders, cross-functional teams, or remote teams in order to achieve business goals Physical Demands: Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards, as well as sit for long periods of time If after reading through this long list you’re thinking – I’m not sure if I meet 100% of these requirements, should I still apply?
