Overview
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, Allergy, and Immunology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and the UVA Children's Hospital seeks candidates for a clinical faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level to join our growing team. The position is ideal for a highly motivated candidate with strong interest in advancing their academic careers through excellence in clinical practice, teaching, quality improvement, and advocacy. Clinical and translational research opportunities will be available. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both pulmonary and sleep medicine, with sleep medicine likely to be the focus of clinical effort. Rank, track, and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. The division currently has five faculty members and strong support staff including three nurse practitioners, three RN clinical coordinators, a respiratory therapist, pulmonary function technicians, and two administrative assistants. The medical center has committed to expanding pediatric sleep services and seeks a dynamic leader to oversee this growth as Medical Director. We currently operate one of the largest accredited pediatric sleep labs in Virginia and have approved a 100% expansion of the sleep lab, with planned hires of a sleep psychologist and a sleep program coordinator along with an advance practice provider focusing on sleep. Our pediatric pulmonary section includes certified programs in cystic fibrosis (member of the CFF-Therapeutics Development Network), primary ciliary dyskinesia, and neuromuscular medicine, with growing technology-dependent and aerodigestive programs. Patient care is provided on campus in Charlottesville with a robust satellite program in the Richmond area and anticipated additional satellite programs. The division houses NIH-funded research and a strong teaching tradition. The University of Virginia Medical Center and Children's Hospital are located adjacent to the main university campus. UVa Health comprises the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, University Physicians Group, and the Medical Center. The Medical Center is a 735-bed level 1 trauma center serving central Virginia and is ranked by U.S. News & World Report among the top Virginia pediatric programs with national recognition in several subspecialties including pediatric pulmonology and sleep. Charlottesville is a culturally rich, scenic city near the Blue Ridge Mountains with access to outdoor activities and a thriving dining and arts scene. Qualifications
