The Engineering and Quality Team Lead plays a key part in the EV rollout and ongoing efficient operations through oversight and verification of the standardized engineering solutions by our design and construction Contractors. The role will provide frontline technical query support to installation contractors to support timely quality and schedule delivery, managing a team of dedicated discipline engineers. The role interfaces with peers in the Hardware team to ensure quick and efficient problem solving and solution provision.

Key Accountabilities

Ensure delivery of Engineering and Quality strategy and execution of bp pulse technical standards.

Ensure rollout and compliance of Operating Management System (OMS) throughout project design, execution and operations.

Identify and mitigate risks, supporting the full project lifecycle from site appraisal to commissioning.

Collaborate with regional teams on network planning, procurement, installation, and commissioning to ensure successful project delivery.

Monitor engineering and quality performance and report progress against long-term targets, driving efficiency and safety in project execution.

Foster strong relationships with execution teams and support Project Managers to deliver projects on time, within budget, and with managed risk.

Capture Lessons Learned and drive Continuous Improvement throughout EV deployments and operational learnings.

Manage and provide technical direction for bp staff and the Contractor Engineering team, overseeing performance and career development.

Own and roll out standardization of technical drawings.

Provide leadership to the North America Engineering team of SMEs to support the bp pulse Execution organization, new business, and future products.

Lead the process to review Engineering work products provided by Contractors.

Lead team development and structure development according to global execution plans.

Support Execution team in the follow-up and control of Contractors Engineering scopes.

Support Procurement in defining requirements and evaluating offers from new Contractors.

Ensure focus on technical and business aspects to enable delivery of the annual charge point installation plan.

Facilitate and lead activities to support engineering-related topics.

Lead a team of subject matter experts to ensure all engineering items of projects are covered, safe, and well-engineered according to North America guidelines.

Ensure awareness and compliance with bp pulse standards, tools, and processes so projects are safe, compliant, and aligned with the global strategy.

Provide expert service during procurement phases by supporting procurement and legal teams with optimal specifications and clear technical boundaries, identifying risks.

Support the operations team with network performance enhancements and continuous improvement.

Provide ad hoc support to the execution manager and other areas of the business as required.

Develop procedures and templates as required to cover North America needs.

Attend management and follow-up meetings as required and ensure proper support to construction/operations activities.

Support local North America appraisal, customer, and business opportunity activities in accordance with the global appraisal team.

Education EDUCATION:

University degree in engineering (Electrotechnical preferred).

Experience and Requirements

8+ years of experience in large-scale engineering projects.

A strong track record in project delivery or in supporting complex project management involving installations across hydrocarbon forecourts, industrial, and public installations.

Experience in performance management of engineering complex projects.

Experience supervising work delivered through EPC contractors.

Extensive major project experience with strong design engineering/procurement background.

Extensive experience delivering HSSE performance.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.

Strong planning and organizing ability.

Good understanding of business drivers and the ability to align design philosophies.

Desirable Criteria

Professional Engineer or equivalent (working towards with imminent application would be considered).

Experience leading multi-cultural teams.

Demonstrated ability to integrate engineering on projects across different countries and use cases.

Broad professional experience in engineering and project management delivery.

Sound knowledge of EV charging technology and understanding of operation and structures of charging networks and integration.

Direct experience with industry standards in the EV space.

Agile project management.

Up to 25% travel should be expected with this role.
