Plan and execute research: Independently scope, design, and run research studies—from planning and fieldwork to analysis, synthesis, and storytelling—with guidance as needed. Apply mixed methods: Use surveys, interviews, usability testing, and ethnographic observation to uncover user needs, behaviors, and pain points. Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with product managers, designers, engineers, product marketers, and data scientists to ensure research is relevant and actionable. Communicate insights: Share findings in clear, creative, and compelling ways—using storytelling and visualization—to help teams understand customer needs and make better product decisions. Contribute to craft: Share best practices, improve research methods and processes, and stay informed on trends in user research, AI, and product development. Support the team: Participate in onboarding and mentoring of new hires; share improvements that positively impact the team and Atlassian broadly. Qualifications
2+ years of hands-on experience designing and conducting user research (qualitative and/or quantitative), ideally in a software or technology environment. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., Psychology, Human–Computer Interaction, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related discipline); postgraduate study is a plus. Proficiency blending foundational qual (interviews, usability) with quant (surveys, simple experiments) to provide balanced insights using tools such as Qualtrics, UserZoom, Dovetail, Tableau. Strong communication skills with ability to convey insights through storytelling and visualization. Collaborative mindset, curiosity, openness to feedback. Interest in AI-powered products; eagerness to grow expertise. Compensation
At Atlassian, we design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. The baseline of our range is higher than the typical market range, and we hire near that baseline. Base pay within the range is determined by a candidates skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. Current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are: Zone A: $134,100 - $175,075 Zone B: $121,500 - $158,625 Zone C: $111,600 - $145,700 This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
