Senior Network Engineer 9-1-1 with Security Clearance
Tyto Athene is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with expertise in public safety environments to support a Cisco-based Enterprise NG9-1-1 solution serving Public Service Answering Points (PSAP) across CONUS, Hawaii, and Guam. This role ensures the reliability and security of the network that transports data and voice communications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls and a strong commitment to performance and uptime. Responsibilities
Network Design and Implementation: Design, configure, and deploy Cisco networking solutions (switches, routers, firewalls) to ensure optimal performance for mission-critical applications. Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor network performance, identify issues, and implement solutions using network analysis and diagnostic tools. Security Management: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect the network infrastructure and safeguard data and voice communications. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, changes, and incidents; prepare reports on network performance and incidents with recommended improvements. Collaboration and Support: Work with cross-functional teams on network-related projects; provide technical support and guidance to junior staff as needed. Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with regulations and standards related to public safety communications; stay current with industry trends and technologies. Training and Development: Conduct training sessions on network operations, troubleshooting techniques, and security protocols. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering with a focus on Cisco environments; experience in a 9-1-1 or public safety setting is required. Strong understanding of TCP/IP, networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, OSI model, defense-in-depth, and security elements; in-depth knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls. Proficient in network protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS). Experience with VoIP technologies and QoS implementations. Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark). Extensive knowledge of Cisco equipment; experience with other vendors (Juniper, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, etc.) is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. Certifications: CCNP required; additional certifications (CCIE, CISSP, etc.) are a plus. Clearance: Secret clearance eligible. Benefits and Compensation
Compensation is tailored to the candidate’s skills and experience. Typical salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $150,000, based on education, experience, certifications, and other requirements.
