Private Client Services at BDO is a boutique practice within our firm. We serve high net-worth individuals, their families, family offices, C-Suite executives, athletes, entertainers, and others with complex tax and financial structures. The Private Client Services Practice covers estate, income, gift, and trust tax consulting and compliance; charitable giving and philanthropic foundations; executive compensation; and cash-flow, retirement, and life insurance planning. Job Description

A Tax Managing Director, Private Client Services (PCS) utilizes their education, experience, communication, time management, leadership, technical, business development, and people skills to provide tax compliance and consulting services to high net-worth clients. They are a key member of the office/region leadership team. Responsibilities

Lead tax and consulting engagements and mentor the team to identify and address client needs, tax planning, and consulting opportunities. Provide executive presence and act as the primary client contact for the preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions. Review complex returns (individual, trust, estate, S-Corp, foundation, partnership, and gift tax) and provide feedback to preparers. Direct communication with government agencies for high-complexity matters. Identify technical issues, conduct advanced tax research, and develop sound recommendations for PCS leadership, clients, and advisors. Expand knowledge through client engagements and current tax developments. Prioritize and review work to keep engagements on track. Utilize analytical, research, and critical-thinking skills to assist clients with individual and business decisions. Support PCS/firm contributions including billing, recruiting, attendance, and participation in CPE and training. Build and maintain relationships with BDO professionals and external sources. Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise associates, senior associates, and managers as required. Review work prepared by team members and provide feedback. Act as a Career Advisor to associates, senior associates, and managers. Schedule and manage workload of staff across levels. Provide verbal and written performance feedback to team members. Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree required; preferred majors include Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics. Master’s degree in Accountancy or Taxation preferred. Ten (10) or more years of experience in accounting, finance, or law; expertise in private client services; prior supervisory experience; public accounting experience preferred. CPA, EA, attorney (admitted in the U.S.), or equivalent required; additional professional designations preferred. Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with GoSystems, BNA Tax Planner, GoFileRoom, SurePrep; tax research tools such as BNA Portfolio, CCH IntelliConnect, Checkpoint, LexisNexis preferred. Individual salaries are determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
