Everest Reinsurance Company, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is currently looking for a Senior Reinsurance Underwriter to join our International Reinsurance Division in the Warren, New Jersey office. Working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of proportional and non-proportional reinsurance treaties for ceding companies in the Middle East and Africa. Our ideal candidate should possess very strong analytical and interpersonal skills, a global perspective, and be enthusiastic about international travel; fluency in French or Arabic will be considered a plus.
Responsibilities:
Underwriting and managing both excess of loss and proportional treaty business as per Everest Re’s underwriting guidelines and delegated authority levels Making sound underwriting decisions, demonstrating appropriate underwriting skills and judgment that will achieve targeted profitability objectives Targeting profitable new business opportunities in the Middle East and Africa region Utilizing all internal underwriting, pricing and cat modeling tools Developing and maintaining strong relationships with ceding companies and reinsurance brokers, and providing exceptional level of service Planning and participating in marketing trips to the Middle East and Africa Maintaining an understanding of key markets in the Middle East and Africa as well as current issues/trends affecting the insurance and reinsurance industries in general Adhering to internal and external compliance guidelines and maintaining proper file documentation Interacting and collaborating with all functional areas of the company including corporate underwriting, actuarial, claims, accounting, and contract wording Qualifications/Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree in business, insurance, or related field is preferred A minimum of 5 years of experience working as an Underwriter in the insurance/reinsurance industry with a property and/or casualty background Very strong analytical and technical skills including the ability to interpret catastrophe modeling and actuarial methodologies Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and negotiating skills Fluency in French or Arabic would be ideal but not required Very strong computer skills; adept at using Microsoft Suite with advanced Excel skills Ability to develop proficiency with the company specific electronic filing and various processing systems to analyze, document and manage business Ability to stay organized and effectively prioritize tasks within a fast paced, team-oriented, and high intensity work environment The base salary range for this position is $116,000 - $135,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
