The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Department of Neurology seeks a qualified individual to join the faculty as an outpatient General Neurologist. Board certification in General Neurology is required. Women and minority applicants are encouraged to apply. VISA candidates are also welcome to apply. As an outpatient General Neurologist, the selected candidate will help provide exemplary care for a wide range of patients presenting with various Neurological Diseases. There may be available opportunity for one to two weeks on the General Neurology Inpatient service. He/she will facilitate access to timely care and will have the opportunity to collaborate in care with a complete range of subspecialists in Neurology and Neurosurgery. The primary location for this position will be focused in an outreach clinic setting, located in the West Ashley, North Charleston, and Summerville/Nexton regions. The ideal candidate will be well-trained and experienced with a diverse patient population, and will possess excellent clinical, interpersonal, and customer service skills. After hours and weekend call obligations are minimal. The position will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor on the clinical educator track, depending upon the qualifications and accomplishments of the applicant. Responsibilities

The MUSC Department of Neurology seeks an outpatient General Neurologist to provide care for a broad spectrum of neurological conditions, with potential involvement on the General Neurology Inpatient service for one to two weeks. Collaborate with subspecialists in Neurology and Neurosurgery and facilitate access to timely care. Primary location is an outreach clinic in West Ashley, North Charleston, and Summerville/Nexton regions. Maintain exceptional clinical, interpersonal, and customer service skills for a diverse patient population. Qualifications

(Frequent) Ability to push/pull objects, up to 200 lbs., unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous) Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet. (Continuous) Must be able to maintain bi-lateral hand movement skills. (Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually. (Continuous) Ability to maintain a valid driver's license. (Continuous) Computer literacy. (Continuous) Ability to work rotating shifts. (Continuous) Ability to work overtime as required.
