Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Accounting Manager provides accounting and financial support under the direction of the President and CEO. This position will be responsible for daily operations accounting and financial support by ensuring payments are completed and expenses are properly processed and approved, donations and receipts are properly recorded and reconciled to other organization systems and restricted and unrestricted funds are properly accounted for, and transfers are initiated. Reconciliation processes related to various accounting functions are also completed monthly. The Accounting Manager is responsible for supervising employees to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Accounting and General Responsibilities:
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Supervise accounts receivable and accounts payable postings & payroll transactions postings.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, bank reconciliations, finance dashboard report, mortgage monitoring reports, purchase products inventory analysis reports, and other financial reports.
- Prepare and pre-approve accounts payable list for weekly check runs prior to supervisor review and approval.
- Monitor & prepare weekly Cash Flow Forecasts.
- Monitor & prepare weekly temporarily restricted report.
- Reconciliation of bank statements and general ledger
- Responsible for maintaining insurance binder and coordinating with supervisor and staff related to insurance.
- Responsible for filing insurance claims for the liabilities policy including vehicles and general liabilities.
- Assist coworkers with questions regarding company credit card balances, fleet service gas cards, and replacement of lost/stolen cards.
- Maintain and assist staff members with questions regarding expense management system.
- Responsible for applying for tax exemptions for HFHGC properties which includes vehicles, buildings, and vacant homes/lots.
- Coordinate and assist the annual Financial Statement audit and 990 processes, serving as the principal liaison with external auditors; work with management to assess audit recommendations and implement changes to processes where appropriate.
- Coordinate and assist with the annual Workers Compensation Audit. Assist with preparation work for grant reports as needed.
- Assist supervisor with the preparation of various financial reports and annual budget
- Prepare and file 1099s for subcontractors/vendors and file 1096 to IRS.
- Provide support when necessary for the finance department.
- Review and maintain a system of internal controls to ensure adequate safeguards for assets of organization, and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies, and US GAAP.
- All other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

- 4+ years of accounting, general ledger, and reporting experience
- Associate degree or equivalent in accounting from a two-year college or technical school preferred
- Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in QuickBooks online accounting system and Bill.com
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Exceptional attention to detail while performing multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
