Overview
New London Hospital (NLH) is seeking an experienced and energetic BC/BE Family Practice or Internal Medicine Physician to join our Primary Care practice as Medical Director. In addition to providing primary care services to a panel of patients, this physician will serve as the Medical Director of New London Hospital. The candidate will be fully supported by experienced nurses, medical assistants, and care coordinators to provide team-based care that is grounded by evidence-based best practices. This practice provides comprehensive care and is deeply rooted in the local community. The Primary Care Medical Director is responsible for departmental clinical leadership and oversight of providers to ensure high-quality patient care, fiscal viability, and employee satisfaction. This person also serves as a liaison between the provider group and hospital administration and will collaborate with the medical staff committees and individuals to optimize communication, efficiency, and effectiveness of clinic services. The leader will work to foster an environment of collegiality by role-modeling the values of New London Hospital while setting clear expectations for team members to follow. They will also partner closely with the director of ambulatory services to create departmental goals and objectives that will advance and align with the priorities of New London Hospital (NLH). The Primary Care Medical Director will report directly to the Chief Medical Officer and be responsible for the clinic leadership team consisting of the primary care medical director, the Newport Health Center (NHC) medical director, and the clinical program director of quality initiatives.
Responsibilities Lead departmental clinical leadership and oversight of providers to ensure high-quality patient care, fiscal viability, and employee satisfaction. Serve as a liaison between the provider group and hospital administration; collaborate with medical staff committees to optimize communication, efficiency, and effectiveness of clinic services. Model values of New London Hospital; set clear expectations for team members. Partner with the director of ambulatory services to create departmental goals and objectives aligned with NLH priorities. Report to the Chief Medical Officer and supervise the clinic leadership team (including the primary care medical director, the Newport Health Center medical director, and the clinical program director of quality initiatives).

About New London Hospital Founded in 1918, New London Hospital is a not-for-profit Critical Access Hospital serving 15 communities within the Kearsarge/Lake Sunapee region in central New Hampshire, providing primary care and specialized clinical services in a patient and family-centered environment. New London Hospital is associated with the teaching hospital, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and the Geisel School of Medicine.
In addition to services at the main campus in New London, primary and some secondary care services are offered at the organization’s Newport Health Center, a rural health center founded in 1991 in Newport, NH. The center offers primary care, pediatrics, gynecology, occupational health, laboratory, X-ray, mammography, and rehabilitative services.
Incorporated in 1779, New London is situated in the Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee Region of New Hampshire. Just south of Hanover and north of Concord in Merrimack County. New London offers a variety of unique retail shops, fine dining, lodging, and entertainment. Summer activities include band concerts, musicals at the Barn Playhouse, festivals, fairs, and parades. Winter activities include skiing at nearby Mount Sunapee, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.
