Job Description Our client is hiring a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist (Part-Time) in Queens, NY, to provide trauma-informed psychiatric care for children in foster care. You will conduct evaluations, manage psychotropic medications, and collaborate with psychologists, social workers, and medical directors.
Responsibilities
Psychiatric Care:
Conduct comprehensive evaluations and provide ongoing treatment for children in foster care in accordance with AACAP, AAP, and ACS standards.
Medication Management:
Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications while ensuring compliance with ACS consent and prescribing protocols.
Care Coordination:
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and care managers to deliver integrated and holistic mental health care.
Education & Support:
Counsel children, foster parents, and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, and medication side effects.
Documentation & Accessibility:
Maintain accurate EMR records, balancing in-person and telehealth visits with availability for consultations and urgent needs.
Qualifications
Education:
Medical degree with completion of a residency and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry required.
Licensure & Certification:
Active New York State medical license and Board Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry required.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of psychiatric experience required, preferably within child welfare, foster care, or underserved populations.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in EMR systems, with Advanced MD experience preferred.
Industry Knowledge:
Strong understanding of foster care systems, ACS requirements, and child/adolescent psychiatric standards of care.
Skills & Attributes:
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with a compassionate, culturally sensitive approach.
