One of the perks of working in the Float Pool is cross-training in all 37 units, providing a broad skill set with diverse patient populations. You will assist with delivering patient care and maintaining unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The environment with our team is collaborative, supportive, and highly communicative. We care for adult patients across 37 Vanderbilt Adult Hospital units treated for various medical conditions (Med Surg, Stepdown, and ICU). Position Overview
In this role, you will be able to administer ADLs, vitals, lab draws, acute checks, place foleys, and straight catheters. Wound care is coming soon. Why Vanderbilt?

Required:
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) And one of the following: Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester (including nursing fundamentals clinical), or Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required), or Minimum of one year of recent experience (within the past two years) as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician. Additional Float Pool Qualifications
2+ years of direct patient care in a hospital environment. Current experience in Med/Surg and/or ICU. Shift
Full-Time Night Shift - 6:45 pm - 7:15 am (three 12-hour shifts/week) Shifts rotate throughout the week Note:
Set schedules are not available. Schedules are determined by unit clinical staffing needs. Night shift employees are required to attend hospital orientation during regular daytime hours during the first week of employment (Monday, Thursday, and Friday). Key Responsibilities
Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Assist with day-to-day delivery of patient care. Facilitate efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards. Serve as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs. Support unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment and unit environmental standards. The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned. Technical Capabilities
Planning & Organizing (Fundamental Awareness): Demonstrates ability to anticipate basic resource needs, identify discrete tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work for own assignments and responsibilities. Prepares and presents clear status reports on projects and assignments. Clinical Competencies (Novice): Demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency to assist and perform clinical care including vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, medication administration and point-of-care testing as directed by unit standards. Care Partner Patient Documentation (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training with clinical applications for patient documentation. Environment of Care (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training with setup and maintenance of patient exam rooms, supplies and equipment.
