The Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (BGCAA) inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Founded in 1989, BGCAA serves youth in our communities through six strategically located Clubhouses. BGCAA is nationally recognized for its high-quality programs and comprehensive approach to youth development, focusing on academic success, character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. Clubs are open after school, during breaks, and throughout the summer to provide safe, supervised, and enriching environments for thousands of kids in Maryland. Role Description The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the chief visionary and operational leader for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (BGCAA). Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring the effective operation of Club programs, cultivating resources, maintaining fiscal sustainability, and advancing the mission to inspire and enable all youth to reach their full potential. The CEO represents the organization publicly and works collaboratively with community partners, stakeholders, and Board members to enhance the impact and reach of the Clubs. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience, including strategic planning, operational management, staff leadership, and fundraising. Experience managing multi-unit or multi-site operations, including supervising professional and volunteer staff. Proven track record of securing major gifts, cultivating donor relationships, and generating revenue in non-profit or for-profit environments. Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, build organizational strategy, and execute sustainable growth and achieve measurable results. Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, decision-making, and delegation skills. Proficiency in financial management, asset oversight, and long-term resource planning. A proven record of innovation and ability to move an organization through the change that follows. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to lead and manage fundraising efforts utilizing known and innovative approaches. Strong communication skills, both oral and written; ability to speak effectively and persuasively to groups and individuals. Demonstrated competency and ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a Board of Directors, Staff, Community Groups, and other related agencies. Commitment to safety, diversity, equity, inclusion, and community engagement. Leadership & Program Oversight Provide dynamic leadership to ensure effective management, growth, and impact of all Club programs and services. Uphold the mission, vision, and principles of BGCAA, fostering an organizational culture aligned with youth development outcomes. Establish and maintain policies and procedures to ensure program excellence, operational efficiency, and compliance with all regulatory standards. Foster a culture of innovation, strategic thinking, and operational excellence that positions BGCAA for sustainable growth. Promote an environment that supports staff development, engagement, and high performance at all levels of the organization. Lead efforts to secure financial sustainability through strategic planning, donor cultivation, and fundraising initiatives. Support resource development efforts through individual donor solicitation, foundation/grant support and corporate partnerships. Oversee long-term funding strategies, including planned giving, endowment development, and major gift campaigns. Collaborate with the Board and development staff to ensure financial targets are achieved and resources align with organizational priorities. Oversee the development, monitoring, and execution of the annual budget in collaboration with financial management staff. Ensure efficient allocation of resources and implementation of administrative and operational systems that support organizational goals. Lead performance management for management-level staff, ensuring professional development and accountability. Safety & Risk Management Ensure that the organization is in compliance with membership and other requirements or standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, other affiliated and regulatory agencies, and that the Organization has standards and measures in place that define effective safety practices, train those annually, and identify vulnerabilities and strategies to mitigate risks. Implement and monitor risk management strategies, insurance coverage, and safety protocols across all operations. Marketing, Public Relations & Community Engagement Promote the visibility and impact of BGCAA programs within the community. Develop and execute strategic communications, marketing, and public relations plans to engage donors, partners, and stakeholders. Build strong relationships with local leaders, officials, and youth-serving organizations to enhance collaboration and advocacy efforts. Strategic Planning & Organizational Growth Lead the organization in strategic planning efforts, ensuring alignment with mission-driven objectives and financial sustainability. Oversee initiatives to grow the number of youth served while maintaining high program quality and measurable outcomes. Identify emerging trends and opportunities to strengthen the organization’s impact and footprint in the community. Board & Governance Support Partner with the Board of Directors to recruit, develop, and engage effective board members. Serve as a primary liaison to Board committees, providing guidance, reports, and the information needed for informed decision-making. Ensure technology systems, digital infrastructure, and data management support organizational operations and growth. Oversee digital security strategies, safeguarding stakeholder data and organizational information through best practices and risk management policies. Additional Responsibilities Undertake special projects or initiatives as assigned by the Board of Directors.
