Under direction from KBR’s Senior Director of Government Relations, develop and prepare strategic products detailing KBR’s legislative priorities and government relations strategy consistent with KBR’s established goals and metrics.
Produce strategic products and materials for leadership and business units to galvanize KBR efforts and identify growth opportunities.
In collaboration with the Senior Director of Government Relations, assist in the management of KBR’s Political Action Committee to include administration and compliance requirements. Attend PAC events as needed.
Conduct analyses of legislative initiatives and policy proposals, and how these interact with executive branch policies and procedures to help shape and develop Hill strategies for appropriations and legislative processes which affect KBR’s strategic business goals and initiatives.
Monitor congressional activities and develop courses of action to ensure congressional members are informed of KBR’s positions and interests.
Represent KBR and the KBR Government Relations office at congressional hearings, conferences, meetings, and special events as necessary to advance KBR’s goals and provide valued service to customers.
Plan, prepare and support visits by company leaders to Capitol Hill and by Members / staff to KBR’s facilities for educational and/or constituent support purposes.
Leverage existing government and Hill network to advocate for positions on critical areas such as defense, intelligence, space, and homeland security.
Support Government Relations office in strengthening relationships with the executive branch and with Congressional member offices and committees on Capitol Hill, especially those responsible for defense, intelligence, national security, NASA, NOAA, space, and homeland security.
Role Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus 2 to 5 years professional experience
U.S. Citizenship (active security clearance is a plus)
Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, integrate, and develop strategic-level products, materials, and presentations on complex issues
Self-starter who can manage time and multi-task effectively
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Demonstrated success working in a team environment
Experience working with senior officials in the legislative and executive branches of federal government
Ability to communicate persuasively to shape the views and expectations of Members of Congress, staff, Senior Executive Branch officials, and corporate executives
Knowledge of legislative and executive branch processes, U.S. Government budget, authorization and appropriations cycles, and the cultures and key players in each
