Summary:
The Assistant Principal is a key member of the school's leadership team and shall assist the Principal in creating an organizational vision, mission, and strategic goals built around personalized student success and aligned with district goals.
Essential Functions: Assumes the principal's responsibilities whenever the principal is absent from the building. Assists the principal in collecting, analyzing, monitoring, evaluating, and using data systematically through the Continuous Plan process to attain strategic goals and objectives, and also assists in the development of the capacity of staff to use this data for decision-making. Assists the principal in ensuring that the district curricula are implemented with fidelity throughout the school. Consistently monitors the effectiveness of and provides timely feedback to professional staff in the implementation of the Four Domains of the Danielson model. Assists the principal in ensuring the strategic allocation and equitable use of human resources to meet instructional goals and support the needs of teachers. Assists the principal in articulating a belief in high measurable goals for all students and assists in leading school efforts to set and monitor learning goals for all students, including the establishment of safety nets for struggling learners. Assists the principal in holding every staff member responsible and accountable for ensuring that all students achieve the rigorous outcomes established for them. Structures the school schedule to increase opportunities for teachers to have collaborative planning time with input from the principal. Systematically monitors the effect of the master schedule on collaborative planning and student achievement with input from the principal. Assists the principal in collaboratively establishing a culture that encourages and welcomes families and community members, and seeks ways to engage them in student learning. Displays high standards of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality in interactions with students, staff, and stakeholders. Assists the principal in targeting professional development toward the improvement of learning experiences, including the quality of classroom instruction and the ability of teachers to meet the needs of all students. Assists the principal in planning and routinely participates in professional development focused on improving instructional programs and practices. Assists the principal in providing effective supervision of the school plant. Knowledge of legal aspects and implications of school administration. Maintains effective communication with district offices and supports district policies and directives. Performs other responsibilities as directed by the supervisor. Education and/or Certification Required:
Appropriate teaching certification Master's degree in educational administration or related area Pennsylvania principal's certificate Experience Needed:
Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in Pennsylvania. Prior administrative experience and a strong background in secondary education preferred. Knowledge of:
Understanding of Act 13 of 2020 (Educator Effectiveness) and its expectations for staff and principal performance. Curriculum, instruction, assessment, and secondary programs. Technology integration. Legal aspects and implications of school administration. Requisite Skills:
