Responsible for coordination of the documentation required by US Customs/Government Agencies for entry of complex and high-risk shipments. These shipments are classified as complex and high risk due to regulatory requirements and tariff combinations.
Engages with customers regarding commodities that require specialized processing to reduce the risk of liquidated damages and penalties through proper classification and duty preference applications.
Obtains correct classification of goods for customs release using databases, SOPs, tariff books, internet, or customs resources.
Performs data entry and processes various import-related documentation for submission to US Customs and all Participating Government Agencies (PGAs).
Maintains and updates all shipment documentation in compliance with record-keeping requirements.
Adheres to all international importing and exporting regulations.
Collaborates with internal staff, departments, other FedEx OpCos, customers, and government agencies to deliver high-quality service.
Processes agency brokerage shipments.
Performs entry reconciliations as needed.
Ensures compliance with all government and organizational policies.
Follows up on Customs matters and resolves issues.
Performs entry reviews as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Paid training is provided.
Minimum one (1) year brokerage experience required.
Minimum one (1) year experience with customer contact required.
CCS and/or Broker's license preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner) required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle high volume and time-sensitive work.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to use multiple systems and reference materials.
Ability to interact with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, internal staff, and management at all levels.
Knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules required.
